My Thoughts on Consciousness Survival:
There are three basic questions at the core of what I do as a medium.
- Does consciousness (mind/soul) exist separately from the brain?
- Can consciousness survive once the brain (organ) has died?
- Can we scientifically detect/prove consciousness survival?
For me, the answer to all three of these questions is, “yes.” Now just because I believe this, I don’t think that you should. A belief is a subjective view point, however, I can say this with 100% certainty, I am pretty fond of my own viewpoint.
If we are to talk strictly about the scientific method, consciousness survival is simply an Hypothesis. Though hundreds of different experiments have produced positive results, scientists studying this subject have not been able to piece the vast information into a working theory that can be replicated over and over again and be used to make predictions. In short, there is no scientific proof that our consciousness survives the death of our brain. However, there is enough empirical evidence to suggest more research and resources be applied to this search, contrary to what many skeptics and debunkers would have you believe.
In response to the skeptics, many believers dismiss science as an effective tool for investigating consciousness survival. I’m still holding out. While I acknowledge that science is a method and not a position, I believe science is still the best tool we have to uncover the mysteries of our universe without falling pray to a make believe universe of dogma or woo woo.
